Amazing. I tell people about the safety of these cars all the time. Great to have visual evidence. 50mph vs a Semi is no joke.

I purchased my used w12 from Audi of San Diego and had it shipped to my door in Texas for about $550. They used a national service and I got the impression they shipped quite a few cars. Give them a ring, ask for the internet sales guy who can hook you up.

Glad you are OK.

This is a real testament to the safety of Audi.
I've seen several other "saved my life" posts around AudiWorld over the years...

Wow.

I have bought many out of state vehicles. I have always had good luck shipping them, but I have had at least two with major problems when I decided to fly in and drive home. It really sucks to be stranded in the middle of nowhere and have to find tow and reputable shop and lodging, food, etc. One such time was for an f-450 diesel which left us stranded for over a week while the dealer tried to trouble shoot the problem- failed ECM. $4000.00 later, it was a tenuous trip back home. Ship the car and get used to it near home where you have the resources to address problems would be advice. I just had this A8 shipped to me for $400. I couldnt even buy a plane ticket and fuel for less than that.

what a harrowing experience...glad you are ok. quite reassuring to see how safe our car truly is. the audi a8 is one of the only cars out there that can boast such a safety record for its occupants.

I don't know if I'd want to drive through the possible weather you'd hit at this time is year. I'm thinking that it would cost about a grand...cheaper if it's to Chicago and then you can drive back from there.

Good to hear you were not injured. Cars can be replaced, and well built cars like the A8 are a great drive, ride, and way to be safe when others fail to be prudent.

I also suggest driving the car from CA. I bought our '07 A8 in a western Chicago suburb about 18 months ago, and drove it here to southeast PA. Enjoyed the drive/ride, and got pretty well acquainted with the car (hadn't owned an Audi in 15 years - previous was a '90 A8). Also bought a Benz Sl55 AMG and 2 Porsche 928's from as far away as TX, UT, and CA, and drove them home. Great way to see the country!
