Strange intermittent problem with audio system
I was running errands the other night and I jumped into the car and started it up and the audio system came on with full blast noise that was not music. I could mute it by pressing the volume **** but I could not turn it down. I powered down the car completely but I could still hear a weird electronic noise coming from the dash and the problem did not go away when I started it up again. After driving a few minutes, I stopped to get gas, shut the car off, filled up the tank, and started it up again everything was fine, no loud noise, just music at a normal volume. Has anyone ever had a problem like this?

YES!!!! I had it happen once!
Never repeated ever since. No clue why it happened. No fault codes from vagcom nothing. I parked the car for like 30 minutes and came back and all was fine no problems.
It was really bizzare. I just put a case of oil in the trunk started the car, and holy cow like this loud buzz with distortion going full blast. You could mute it but you click the volume up one notch and holy cow full tilt again. It sounds like an AM radio station from hell.
I have the latest software updates too.

yeup, happend to me too
Seems to be cold weather related. Mine sat out all night in the cold and happened first thing in the morning. Since then I've had intermittent amp problems. New one is on the way though.

I had the same problem a couple of times with my '06 A8. The first few times, it was when the defroster was on. The last time, it happened when the car had been sitting out all day in extremely cold conditions. In all cases, the radio functioning returned to normal the next time I drove the vehicle. The dealer's replacing the rear windown.
