Default Seat trim has fallen off

Has anyone experienced this before? Looks like a tricky process to fix it.

Happened to the driver's side on my 04. I went as far as ordering the part, but never ripped the seat apart to fix it. I don't even notice it anymore. The fix is more than just putting the backer plate back on the trim piece and snapping, there is actually some string that is supposed to get attached to keep the "tensioned" look of the piece in the seat. Maybe if I feel adventurous someday I'll take the back of the seat off. There are at least 4 clips to deal with based on the diagrams in the Bentley Manual and that is of course if you don't need to remove the bottom back of the seat.

I had the same piece fall off. There is an auto upholstery shop here in KC that does high end restorations...hand make A Rolls interior etc...and he was able to re-attach the piece working only from the front. I watched him do it but I dont know the technique involved except to say it involved string and one or more needles. And he was able to put tension on the piece to pull it into the seat to give it the proper look. It does not sink into the upholstery quite as far as the trim on the other seats, but one would have to study the situation craefully to notice. I was just amazed(and relieved) that it could be done without access from the backside of the cushion.

So, if you can find a master upholsterer type in your city he can probably do the same for you.
