Default Rear floor heat

I can't recall whose post showed them cleaning their carpet by taking all the seats out, but the pic enlightened me to the fact there are vents under the front seats for rear passengers. My passengers complain it's cold back there, and I couldn't figure out how to get them heat. Turns out my rear rubber floor mats cover the vents, they have the A8 logo on them so I assume they are OEM, is there a smaller OEM version available that don't extend under the seats?

Default What model A8 do you have--short or long?

Short body or long? I was just looking at mine today with the factory rubber mats, and they clear the floor heater vent just right. Thus, do you have a short body? If so, I'm not sure they ever sold the shorter rear version mats, at least in the U.S. There would be a 5" difference needed in the mats, assuming the heat vent is at the same place in the floor relative to the front seat and related underfloor structure.

I have the short body. The L version must be the issue as 5 more inches would definitely clear.

I have rear OEM mats in my s8. I would think they would be the same as the A8.

I'm assuming you don't have 4 zone climate control?

If thats the case then heat does not come out of those vents. Only A/C comes out of those during the summer months.

Just dual zone. Any idea why A/C only? Seems like rear center vents would be more efficient.

Not really sure. I think it was due to the air being too cold by the time it got back there. This is why the 4 zone has electronic heaters on both front seats.

Default Rear Floor Mats on A8 NWB

I went through a whole saga with the dealer on my rear floor mats. I have the NWB A8. To make a long story short, the only ones I could order in the thick rubber all weather version were the long ones that fit the LWB A8 (front are same size for both). As you said, they were several inches too long, covered those vents, and prevented the seats from going back all the way. Since the dealer couldn't do any better I settled for a $25 credit and cut them down to size myself using a ruler and razor knife. You wouldn't know that they weren't factory cut except for the fact that there is no lip on the front. I am really happy with the result.

This thread has been very helpful. It seems the rear floor mats have been giving me more trouble than I thought. My seats would bogg down when I slid them back, didn't occur to me it was because of the floor mats.Anyone know if that certain American made custom floor mat company makes a short version that will better fit?

I have Lloyd's that I got from AutoAnything.
Very nice fit and higher quality than Audi mats.

Had to buy a set from them to get the rears because the logo'd A8 mats only come with NWB rears.
