Petty Issues with '04 A8 L
On my '03 A6 4.2, when you engage reverse, the passenger side mirror tilts downwards & as soon as you disengage from reverse, it goes back into position. My '04 A8, does not go back into position immediatly after getting into drive, maybe a short time later.
Secondly with light switch in "Auto" mode when I park & remove key from ignition, & open drivers door, it still chimes like I forgot the key in ignition or left lights in the on postiion.
What gives??? Any ideas or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

The side mirror stays down for a little bit for parking. It is so that the mirror wont keep tilting up and down while you are trying to park.
The Chime only goes on for 2 seconds and then is supposed to stop when the light switch is set to Auto and you take the key out of the Ignition.

Naah, it stays in the down position long after I have engaged drive & I am heading in the forward direction....
Secondly the chime in question stays on forever until I get back in the car. When this happens, the come home lights still stay on. Told dealer about this but they could not get it to repeat...Happens intermittently..Always happens when I am far from the dealership.

Re: charlie, as I recall, there were some 04s that had this mirror issue
Thanks car goes in for XM install on Wednesday so I will bring this up. Is there a TSB or bulletin that I can refer the dealer to??? Thx

I can't speak to the chime issue, especially if you've checked the turn signal lever.
Both my Mercedes and my A8 have a delay on the return of the passenger side mirror. I'd say I have to be going forward for about 10 - 15 seconds before it returns to the normal position. I believe this is to allow you to still watch the curb as you park. It can be defeated by switching the rearview mirror control off the passenger mirror.

Re: Sounds like you left the turn signal on.
this happens to me also...but in MMI i have AUTO LOCK ON....when i reverse the mirror goes down and stays down when i start to drive..but when the auto LOCK on doors kick in after 5-10 secs...the mirror comes back up..try that.
