Parking Brake Failure?
Just had this appear, and it stays illuminated while the engine is on. Is this something associated with the rear brakes simply needing service or something else?

Without an VCDS scan I can not be positively sure of what your problem is. When my D3 had that issue, I done a rear brake job and it cleared the light. My pads was extremely low, but I never got the low pad warning. Why this gave me a parking brake malfunction, I could not tell you, but I would check for low pads first.

Thanks, Snatchman. I had come across some old posts, and that's what led me to that conclusion. Still haven't purchased Rosstech yet. Really need to do that.
I appreciate both your comments!

I've gotten the rear parking brake light...
with low pads, but also got it when it wasn't holding the correct pad thickness setting (related to a prior pad job). Then you need VAG COM to reset it, like you do to open them to do the pads. All paths lead to a VAG COM here...

I've also gotten it with a faulty parking brake switch and separately with a faulty parking brake module, both of which I had replaced and it cleared up each time.
