Default Nice 05 A8L....but what's wrong with trunk alignment?

As many know...I've been searching and fretting over my next A8L. Most of my searching is done while sitting on my butt, since no cars are anywhere near me (sucks!). I've narrowed things down to a few basic requirements. It will be a 2004 or 2005 model, with less than 55,000 miles, must have EXCELLENT paint, body, and interior. Colors I like are Black, Atlas Gray, or Dark Blue. Interior colors are Ameretto, Black, and maybe Gray. Options I want are heated and vented seats, rear heated seats (southern cars don't always have these), 19 inch wheels or discount for 18 inchers. I would really like the pass-key option on the 05s but you can't have everything. Anyways....this car on ebay looks very nice, except for the trunk lid alignment. I can't tell if it's a hinge issue or if the car has been hit hard in the rear. The seller did say the rear bumper was resprayed...but that's it....just the lower bumper, no other part of the car was touched. What are your opinions about this issue? Thanks Guys....(and Gals)...

Default Trunk hinges are a common warranty issue....

Are you still considering a W12 ?

I'd suggest under 50k so it could CPO - unless you're using another source.

Default I would consider a W12 if in my budget....but nope!

I recently sold my beloved Ferrari Testarossa. So I paid off some debts, and now I'm backing off the W12 a bit. I think I still need an Italian car in the garage, so I'm looking at getting maybe a Ferrari 308/328, and looking at "normal" D3 cars. Those W12 cars have some very cool styling touches, like contrasting piping on the leather, alcantara, fridge, and probably a few more things I have no idea about. Just AWESOME cars!

Default Seller says it's the hinges....this seems like a good deal....

The seller said he repained the LOWER rear bumper area, but other than that the car appears as new and is absolutely spottless. The inside trunk area looks funny...sorta cloudy....like something was spilled there or this is a possible flood car?

I wish the car had pass-key option and 19 inch wheels....oh well.....

I would like some feedback as I'm going to pull the trigger soon....

Default Missing several key options

As you mentioned, you want the smart key system, which this doesn't have. You also wanted heated and cooled seats, and this doesn't have either one (nor rear heated seats as well. Lastly, it only has the 17" wheels, not even the upgraded 18"s, forgetting the 19"s.

I think you can find better deals then this one. I just got my A8L two weeks ago, and I was willing to give up some options (auto close doors, wood steering wheel, bluetooth, etc.), but not others (heated seats, smart key, 19" wheels.). Luckily, I was able to get a car with all of these options, in a great color combo (black on black), CPO for a very aggressive price.

Driving my car today in 90 degree temperature, I can tell you I loved having the ventilated seats. I also happened to park next to another black A8L in a parking garage in NYC today that had the 18" wheels. I'm sure part of it is pride in my own car, but I thought it looked just so much more 'bold' then the other A8L just because of the wheels.

If you are going to live with a car for a long time (my last car was 8 years), I want it to have every option that's important to me.

Actually, those are the optional 18-inch wheels. The 17s have seven spokes, not five

Really? I thought the 18"=9 spokes, 17"=5 spokes, 19"=12 spokes.

Default Here's an 04 A8L from my local Craigslist (Montgomery, AL)

Don't know the seller, but I'd be happy to look it over for you.

http://montgomery.craigslist.org/car/783011623.html</a

The 2005 brochure lists the 7-spoke 17" wheels as the standard wheel, and the 5-spoke 18" and 12-spoke 19" wheels as optional. Double-checking, I still have the standard 17' wheels my '05 came with in my garage.
