Mine gave the pressure sensor DTC signal, too; but after replacing the compressor no further problems.

Mine never sat low in just the rear, though.

So just to clarify -

I should replace

- Rear Struts inc valve blocks (are they part of the same unit)
- Compressor
- Brake light switch
- Plus some other bits not important right now

Does anyone know the part number for rear shocks on D3 A8 4.2 without sport suspension and the part number for compressor and any other little parts I need, perhaps some hoses, clips, seals?

I will go and get the parts then find a workshop and cue the music.

No. The only thing you should replace for sure it the brake light switch. You should find the leak. Replacing both rear struts is expensive and may not solve the problem. Valve Block is just behind your front left wheel, behind the wheel liner. If you don't find any leak at rear struts look at the Valve block. As far as I can understand your compressor still works. If you have to replace it buy one from eBay. ~$450 new.

Let's not forget many of these could be a dying battery (which, incidentally, has to be coded to the car so either DIY with careful SEARCHING of forum, or find a specialist - in VWAG, not BS or batteries)

I'm having the same issues now. AutoZone has both size Techron BOGO for those of us in the states - I'm cleaning mine now; however I'm afraid it's vacuum related. Bought 3m of vac line and will tackle it a bit at a time. There was that one guy who tracked it down to incorrectly assembled air filter housing, strange. And mine does not fit together right so I'm going to remedy that first...

Thanks for all your expert help everyone.

I'm looking for a compressor at the moment, will any of these part numbers be okay?
Does anyone know which is the newer one, as I guess they changed the part numbers as they made modifications to the unit.

4E0 616 007 D ; 4E0616007D
4E0 616 007 ; 4E0616007
4E0 616 005 H ; 4E0616005H
4E0 616 005 F ; 4E0616005F
4E0 616 005 D ; 4E0616005D
4E0 616 007 B ; 4E0616007B

Should I replace the relay in tandem with the compressor? Is there anything else that's useful to replace whilst the pump is being changed.

Hopefully this fixes it.
I had a blowout yesterday and replaced the tyres and since it was lifted out the ground and the suspension hung from the car on a lift it seems to be riding very well, don't know if this tells you anything.

I hope to hear from someone to confirm the part number and I will update once the compressor is replaced, wish me luck!

For whats its worth, I had the G291 fault as well but not codes for leaks. I bought a compressor rebuild kit because I had a feeling mine was getting weak. It would take forever to raise up one level. Once I was done with the rebuild the whole system was much happier and the code for the pressure sensor went away.

Okay so it has been almost 10 days since I lifted the car from the chassis to put new tyres on it and the suspension hasn't played up once...

Rather odd and can't explain. I even left the car for 2 days without moving it as I was out of country and came back expecting it to have dropped a bit and it hadn't. Seems to be working well even going up to lift and down to dynamic quickly. It lowers/raises one axle at a time not all at once which I think it correct.

I have noticed a clicking noise from the left side of the dashboard which I presume is the relay, I didn't notice this before but perhaps I wasn't listening out for it.

I'm sure it will come back in due course just thought it very odd that it's working fine again.

I still have the engine light so will book it into a workshop to have the vacuum lines checked and replaced. Once the suspension problem returns I will update this thread again, maybe it will be helpful in future to other people.

Update

The suspension has been fine the last couple of weeks, but recently we've been having a couple of really hot days (Summer is finally here I guess) and I've started having problems with the suspension.

On my journey to Abu Dhabi from Dubai the suspension was low at the front and felt very stiff. Left the car parked in the sun for a few hours and when I came back nothing had changed still the back was normal and the front was low. After driving for a few minutes I noticed that the front had come up but the rear was the lowest I've ever seen and the ride was terrible. I had flashing orange and green lights, after some time the orange flashing light went away but the car still remained the same all the way home again.

The next morning I fire up the car and sure enough it rises again and levels out. When it is cooler weather it performs faultlessly but in the heat it fails.

How are these units cooled, is there anything I can do to help it keep cooler, or is it just with age they get inefficient and can't cool as good as they used to.

I'm still looking to replace the pump anyway but can't find a replacement unit for sensible money yet.

Also on a side note, I've noticed the electronic parking brake activation and deactivation taking a long time and often numerous clicks on the switch for it to actually work, is this a sign that something is failing or requires some maintenance?
