Default Most Outrageous A8 part Cost I've seen! (Scary, but good for a laugh)

2004 A8L console mounted volume control **** : $107 from
AudiPartsUSA<- should be audiusaparts.com. Editing on my phone's a b**ch
Edit: after rereading that, it looks like I'm implying that they are expensive. Quite the contrary, I've usually found they are cheapest AND great customer service. Also I tried to correct their name in the link. And added an ad

Just the ****. Not the control switch and ****.

Dealer wants $133, $224 with switch..

The **** for the 2005+ is only $57(which I think is reasonable BTW) .Hmmm. I bet it's not as nice as the one on the '04; I always liked the sharp-edged, overdesigned machined and knurled feel of that ****!

Had the VCDS computer on the armrests, closed; had to stop quick and daughter had removed her elbow, it slid forward and turned off the radio. It also chipped off about 2mm x x5mm of the aluminum from the upper edge. I cannot find the piece. I have not looked to see if it's stuck into the computer. Big bummer but at least I didn't rear-end the idiot who stopped too quickly in front of me.

If anyone knows how to remove this **** please tell, I am NOT simply going to yank on it.
Probably need VWAG special tool 73-f0O34/1A .
I guess I could get the trusty manual out!

TIA,
Tom

P.S. If anyone recalls any other overpriced doodads this could become a popular thread!
P.P.S. I know this is a top-tier car and so parts are going to cost accordingly, so anyone who's tempted to remind me of that fact can rest assured I'm fully cognizant of the equation.

Ha, check out the price for a new cup holder if you think the **** is bad (which yes, it is outrageous)...I think it was close to $500 for the 2004 and like $85 for 2005 and above. I chose NOT to replace mine...

That's the big MMI ****; it's $180 here! That's a great price, thanks Tenspeed! I'll have a look around their shop for the little one I need though... just had the P/N somewhere...

PS Love your slogan. Too true.

Radiator is ~$250 but the rubber hose ~$75. In my opinion the first one could be (thanks God it is not ) twice more expensive and the second one at least twice cheaper.

How about almost $200 for the front plate delete on a face lift A8/S8.

<<<@!1!@>>>

You are welcome. I found the volume ****. From the spring, it looks like it slips on the shaft. Funny that the shipped price is almost the same.

There is a chance if you find a seller that's parting out a A8, you might find one for less. Not many people looking for that part...

A set of new ones for 7500.00 or rebuilds for 2200.00 seems insane. The electronic dampening/air shocks on my old Suburban were about 2200.00 for new ones. Arnott rear and Bilstein front were around 650.00
