Default Some possibilities

First though, know what version you are on. Otherwise answering your question is a shot in the dark.

1. You may succeed in getting to version 3360 (33.60). That cleans up a lot of old problems and gets rid of the "lawyer" warning screen from the front end--it still comes up, but deeper in typical use. The normal way to do it is complaining of losing surround sound settings. Please search archives. It has been posted repeatedly, and you will find links to an A6 post with the TSB's. I succeeded with this, as have others, but then more than a few posts have said they did not get the dealer to do it. Seems to have to do with dealer's familiarity with car and MMI to a fair extent.

2. #1 does not get you to the current version 4140 (41.40). 4140 is not well documented for what it actually does beyond maybe cleaning up some modern phone type interface issues, plus adding a more detailed track pop up if using an iPod with AMI. You have to pay for 4140 per the Audi release instructions to dealers. Search archives for more info.

3 You can buy the CD's to do this from Audi. Be careful though and you have to go thru 3360 to get to 4140. Again search archives. I did 4140 successfully. People who didn't go thru 3360 correctly blew up their MMI box and spent big bucks at dealer to fix. Search archives...

4. Last, you can try complaining about Nav disk skips if legit. The car stores faults for disk issues the dealer can read. Again, there is a TSB on this...search... In my case, dealer has a new nav disk on order as a result. Depending on your MMI version, that may back you/them into an MMI update to be compatible with the disk. I suspect the odds of success on this one are a lot lower than #1, since by definition it is opening up a fair number of updates a dealer may not want to dive into.
