Mmi gear replaced... Still problems
#11
Hello
I'm the seller, they are not 3D printed! I sold over 200pcs and nobody had a fitting problem with it, who followed my manual!
Please use the manual what you got with the gears, and everything will be fine, if not, contact me and I will help you to find out what went wrong. (check your ebay messages)
Anyway about the Metal-plastic debate, I will make a video soon to show, what the metal gears done with a swiveling arms, and other plastic gears after 5 year of usage. You need to have dimensional tolerance in these gears mechanic. When two material with different toughness rolling over each other and transferring force over hundreds of time a year, you can imagine the soft plastic teeth will be eaten by the metal gears. Metal gears are not the right solution, I learned in the hard way.
My first gears was brass also way back, when the A8 was only 3-4 year old. I'm running an audi service center, and I saw what problem those gears caused in a long term, so that's why we moved to plastic. This plastic type will last forever, they are cut, cannot break, have the necessary tolerance.

Figured it out. Embarrassing… The internal switch mounted in the middle of the unit, not the one that lines the wall, was switched internally. I think I removed it and it fell off and I just put it back real quick not paying attention. Thanks again for everyones help!
Cheers
