Default Air suspension relay HELP please.

Recently, had air compressor rattling in left front wheel well after shutting off engine. Had to disconnect the Negative terminal on battery after trying unsuccessfully all possible side dash panel fuses. Drove it only a couple times after that, and didn't hear compressor with each engine kill, and when I did, I disconnected the Battery.
Was advised it may simply be the relay, so I got the 4HO 951 253A (labeled 645) to replace the 8DO 951 253A (labeled 373). Below link is my relay panel on my 2006 A8L

The EMPTY relay slot to the LEFT of the 395 relay is where the 373 relay was located and is where I inserted the new 645 relay.
However, after doing so, and reattaching Neg battery terminal, and starting car, nothing happened, i.e. no lift and still have both warning icons illuminated with the car pic with down arrow and the car pic with the up/down arrow.
I checked both 60 and 40 fuses above relays and they are o.k.

1.Should I assume the Compressor burned itself out? I never smelled anything as some have reported.

2.Will it harm the vehicle to limited driving in such a low position?

ANY information would be very helpful as I live over 2 hrs from dealer and can certainly replace the compressor from what I've seen.
Thanks immensely and I hope the pictures upload properly.

From memory, that's the correct "hole".

Was the car not lifting at all after all the troubles? If not I'd try the old one again. Maybe the new one is defective. Or try that other 373 in the pic in the compressor relay slot temporarily. (not sure what it does, I'm sure some will soon tell us)

My understanding is it won't harm the car beyond scraping the bottom on everything over 2" tall... which you'll find is an awful lot of stuff.

Sometimes when I have trouble w/images it's because there's a space between the [img] thing and the URL. Normally, You click the little yellow mountain icon and paste the url to the image, assuming you're linking to an image with its own URL. If it's an image you want to upload (from your device) click "manage attachments" below the text box.

I got my NEW (not rebuilt like the place in Florida) compressor from Enlgand or Germany from a specialist. $499 total and it arrived in 4-5 days. Amazing. I had several tech questions for the FL rebuilders (obviously rebuilt as they charge a core charge) and was NOT impressed with the "tech" guys I talked with. and mine made no smell it just sounded like a cheap little tire inflator compressor. Search my past threads for a wealth of info

while you've got that panel off it is a good idea to replace the brake lamp switch; it's <$20 and it will cause all kinds of chaos when it fails. Just be aware it's self-adjusting and can only be "adjusted"" once, so don't press the plunger until it's in and the pedal arm does it.

Default went and found my source. TWO DAYS from Germany to USA!

I bought the new one from the Miessler in the Fatherland...
their site promised two-day delivery for the $499 price (includes shipping and relay); I'll keep youse posted...

aTOMic,
Again, thank you for the info. That is the exact one from Germany I ordered last night. And it has a 2 yr warranty I believe. Besides being made in Deutschland, the shipping is going to be quicker than ordering one from Florida -- go figure !! ==thanks again, Andy

No, people are just so stupid around here.
I fear I have become a bit of a curmudgeon. I live in Hendersonville, near Nashville. I'm from New York, and Southern accents annoy me to no end. Just the really severe ones. I don't want my kid to proudly tell us what he learned in science and pronounce cell "Sayul"; sorry but unacceptable to me.
Also, the joke was on me on A8Parts.com (a UK based forum) when someone told me there IS such a town name in France near them!

I can understand what you mean by those THICK drawn out accents. Seems like over the history of mankind, and "survival of the fittest," it would defy logic for those in the past to somehow develop a way in which to communicate SLOWER, when you would think the most efficient, direct "accent" would win over the "sloww yeee haww" version.
Very pretty country you live in though. I'm in Louisiana, which would be ideal if I were an avid hunter or fisherman. Darn!

I'll let you know if I have success with the compressor when it arrives.
I also ordered the stop light switch you mentioned. Thanks for that.
