Default LT: Best way to add aux/Bluetooth music streaming?

I’ve been browsing forums for this exact question but didn’t get anything similar for A8.

I have 3G Mmi high with navi, CD changer and AMI(?) with SD card slots and HDD. Unfortunately no aux or Bluetooth for music.

Ive seen people simply buying Bluetooth cables and somehow, going into green menu and enabling Bluetooth, which seems pretty odd knowing how complicated Audi likes to do things.

So far the only way I know of is buying AMI with aux input and swapping it with cd changer. I know there’s 3rd party addons that connect instead of a cd changer, I had one in my A6 C6, but I kinda want to keep everything original as possible.

anyone did something similar ? Would love to hear your input on this

We just went the simple route and purchased a bluetooth 12v plugin to use as an FM transmitter. I know people always bash this idea, but its so cheap and simple...and portable. I'm an audiophile and can hear quality sound and this is so close it doesn't make sense to make it complicated or expensive. Another thought....XM statelite radio does a <$6 per month special if you pay for a year. It's an unbelievable deal and the menu on our A8s make it simple to save presets and view the song/title information on screen.

With MMI 3G, all you need is the aux cable to AMI port, connect an audio Bluetooth and stream by selecting AUX in the MMI menu.

Cheers,
Louis

Bluetooth steaming sucks for high quality music audio. I got the AMI and swapped out the CD changer a long time ago. I'm still using an 160GB original iPod classic. All my music all the time, full lossless quality. The only way to go as far as I'm concerned for high quality audio.

Default A3 Spotify through Bluetooth?

I just bought a 2015 A3. I've connected my phone through Bluetooth and while I can play music from my phone, on the MMI screen it just shows that I'm connected to an 'external Bluetooth source' and I can't control the music, skip songs, see info etc on the car, only through the phone. Does the AMI cable make this possible?! I am confused as to what the AMI cable does and if there is anyway to control my Spotify through either the steering wheel buttons or the MMI? Seems like a very basic feature that I've had on other cars?

Not sure what A3 MMI version, I assumed it's 3G and you should be able to see the songs and controlled by the steering wheel. Unplug the AMI cable if you have one connected to it. People only use AMI to connect an external Aux audio source when they bought a premium trim that doesn't have Bluetooth A2DP audio support.

Louis

Hey Louis thanks. I'm not actually using an AMI cable at all, I was going to buy one if it made it possible to control my music through the car. I'm just connected via Bluetooth. It's really frustrating having to use the phone while driving to change or view music

If you stream through aux, you won't be able to control it via your car button either. If you can play music with your phone, you should be able to control it with your car buttons. Read your manual, may be someone messed with your software.
Cheers,
Louis
