I've put my B&O through its paces almost every day for three years now and have had no issues. I've added a JL Audio 12 sub with an ALpine 500W RMS amp so take full advantage of my B&O. Like MP has said, there an very few cases here with bad drivers but that does not mean anything since B&O are relatively rare in the D series platform. Most drivers that get blown are from over driving them with distortion from my experience. I'm not saying that you did that but the previous owner could have. I am definitely a fan of the B&O and it has been one of the best factory sound systems out there. Also yes, there are manufacturer defects that will also happen but rare as well.

Guess I'm just lucky then lol...
I just don't understand how such an expensive bit of kit is not protected against being over driven...

Was it difficult to add the sub...?? Maybe I'll look at that in the future, once I've straightened out the rest of the system...
Unless I get fed up and sell the car of course...!!

It wasn't difficult since I did not do it myself. I have a great local shop that will does all my stereo work. I used a thin mount JL Audio 12 inch sub with their prefab box. I think it waa under 7 inches in depth. I wanted save as much trunk space as I could. The sub fires though the ski hole and is mated to an Alpine amp rated at 500W RMS. One thing we found out about the B&O is the trigger for the line level adapter has to be a 12V ignition trigger. Since the B&O has a digital amp, you cannot use the speakers as the trigger. The amp turns itself on and off between beats and unless you turn up the volume almost all the way up, it will not turn back on.

The addition of a sub really makes the B&O just awesome. Every single person who has heard the system is amazed at how clear and impactful the sound. You will not regret it. It's slightly costly since the Sub, box, amp, line level adapter, bass ****, wiring kit, and installation costed around $1,400 but well worth it since I did not shell out the initial B&O option.

Took the ski bag out.

Build a wall to hide the sub. Shallow depth sub saved me so much more space compared to a traditional setup like I had in my 05W12

My old setup in my 05W12 with a traditional sub and housing.

You know you will later. You won't regret it. It just makes the driving experience much better in my opinion.

100% with you there mate, at least 50% of my driving pleasure is about the music/sound...
So I don't have much love for this car at the minute...

Sadly tho, i have a mountain of other issues to get past before i think about upgrading anything...
Oil leak, coolant leak, windscreen washer water leak, air leak, broken sunroof... That's without the $650 to put the stereo right first...
And an empty wallet with zero time to do it with...!!
At least it starts every morning thus far, I guess I should be thankful for that...
