Well happy to report that my key survived a full round in my clothes washer machine. Accidentally left the key in my pants pocket and the wife chuckled as she handed it to me still soaking wet. Tried it and the green led on the key was flashing in odd ways and did absolutely nothing to the car.

Eldest son suggested packaging it in rice to draw out the moisture. Left it buried in rice for several days; changed the battery and bam! Works like a champ.

Saved myself from a ~$150-$180 mistake.

One of mine got washed as well. I just opened it up, took the board.& battery out, sprayed it with "technican in a can" (flux remover/contact cleaner) blew it dry with a hair dryer and reassembled. Worked fine as well.
