I knew the Lexus "Was On The Rebound"...
In 89, my 84 Alfa Romeo GTV6 was overheated and I drove by a Honda dealer, an Accord LXI was on sale for $12,900 and I traded my Alfa in without thinking, just wanted a reliable car, they only gave me $2500 for my beautiful Alfa. I didn't care, took the new Accord home, got through a curve, almost turned over and I realized I wasn't in my Alfa. I got back into another Alfa a year later...
The Accord LXI was a reliable car, great gas mileage, comfortable, but...
Welcome back...

That's a nice car Brozee. I was going to ask if the S5 had a six speed manual but I just saw your DSG trans comment....
I recently returned from a 7700 mile road trip with BallyKid. We went to Salt Lake City, Reno, Seattle, San Francisco, Silicon Valley (Met with MP 4.2 + 6.0 and tested out his W12 while he took us on a tour of the silicon valley sites where most of the technology companies got started).
From there we stopped at Laguna Seca where the Porsche Collector's Club happened to be meeting. About 500 Porsches and with the exception of the Cayenne's and Panamera's, all had sticks. An awesome sight indeed. Then we took the Pacific Coast Highway down to Tinsel Town and then to San Diego for a few days of R&R. Then up to the place where Bally is based, Las Vegas before we headed home.
After Salt Lake City, we took my '04 A8 onto the Bonneville Salt Flats and the Bonneville Int'l Speedway. Check out the pictures; note, the car had 216,000 miles on the clock, transmission was kept in 5th gear, and of course the speed limiter has been deleted. Both my son & I were in the car, it was loaded with luggage and about 100# of pinball machine parts we were taking to a friend in Temecula. Not too bad for a ten year old Audi.
That is salt, not snow on the car.
I plan to eventually post a video on youtube.

Wow!! 170?? What all did you have to do to remove the speed limiter?? I'm sure that car floated very well going that fast. The stock limiter is 130 according to the owners manual. 7700 miles on a trip is a lot and at 216K miles it's still going strong and still looks like new. I remember you saying that you're driving it to the ground. You should get 300-400K out of it.
I did have the ECU reflashed with the Unitronic stage 1 deal that supposedly increased horsepower from 330 to 345 or 350. Whatever it is, I like being able to go past the silly 130mph limiter. Yes I have properly rated tires. They are barely a month old.

No salt!
I saw the car as Mr. Bally says--after its Palo Alto wash. Fun meet up. Hardly the worse for wear! 216K is a nice bookend to 172!
Glad you got to Laguna Seca; sounds like the timing was a stroke of luck!
