Default hood wont release

ran auto scan and cleared dtc

now hood wont release

what happened ?

confirming hood is just cable and latch, and has nothing to do with scan

is there an alternative way to get hood open ?

The hood has no fancy electrical shenanigans for opening, its opened by a split cable arrangement that opens both latches.

if its not opening don't pull to the point of breaking something, get a helper to bounce on each side above the latches while you pull steady pressure on the hood release.

There is a few threads here about the same issue, if you can't open it by bouncing then you need to try and get hold of the splitter box and pull it, if that fails then you need to cut the latch loop from the underside of the hood.

splitter box is up behind the headlight on the driverside, access by removing the wheel arch liner

There is a thread here https://www.audiworld.com/forums/a8-...losed-2830934/ that goes through the way to solve this. Sorry you're having such bad luck!

ok I will search those threads.

Splitter box access sounds like a possibility.
I am literally yanking the cable there ?

well that was a very discouraging 20 minute read.

when these people are sawing, are they sawing the centre latch at the pop release handle in middle ?

sounds like access through wheel is 50/50 proposition

what have I done to derserve this God ????? aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh
