Default Help me pick an A8!

I'm spending too much time looking around for a car and want to pick something up. I've narrowed it down to these 3.

2008 Black / Amaretto, 45k miles, warranty until May 2012, no CPO. Prem / 19's / rear climate / vent seats. $35k. Car is VERY clean. All service done. Car is 200 miles away, pretty easy to drive and pick it up.

2009 Black / Amaretto / 35k miles, warranty until 12/ 12/ then 2 years CPO. Prem / rear / vent seats / 19's. $43k. Interior is clean. 3 wheels have curb rash, scratch on rear bumper. Car is 500 miles away, so I would either fly in and drive home, or a friend can help me with shipping for $400.

2008 Black / Black / 42k miles, warranty is up, CPO for 2 more years. Prem / Sport / Bang / rear / leather trim / vent seats. VERY clean. Car is 2000 miles away, so I would need to ship. $40k.

I'm very biased towards the 2008 sport - the reason is coming from an M3 sedan, its much sportier plus I like the sport steering wheel. I know its a small thing, but I like it. Plus, I really wanted an S8 however I'm trying to stick around $40k, and I'm not finding an S8 under 50k miles for low $40's.

I can add a 3/36k warranty to the 2008 non CPO for $3100. So I figure I"m getting that car for $38k with 3 years warranty. Probably the best deal.

I figure with the non sport cars, I can simply keep the 19's for winter driving, then pick up a set of 20" sport replica's for summer driving. Based on my other thread, the non sport with 20's in dynamic mode will have the same "stance" as a A8 with sport.

All of these are "non L" which is my preference.

Any thoughts? I'm trying to decide on these, or just stick it out a bit longer and see what comes up.

Seems like a no brainer to me. The first one!?!?!! Very clean. and $5k cheaper!

F the warranty; you can buy an extended one for cheaper than the 5k you'd waste on the other cars. I can highly stand by that the "sport version" aka 19 inch rims and flappy paddles aren't that amazing. It's great if you can get one with it sure. But I wouldn't go out of my way to get one; the feel won't be any different, just a rougher ride. Quoting Jeremy Clarkson "None of those STUPID flappy paddles"

All 3 cars have paddle shifters. I use them on my wife's MB they come in handy. Although I REALLY liked the sport mode on the A8.

Two of the car's already have 19's. Its just that the 19's have the "tucked under the fender" look, which could probably be fixed with some spacers.

The other one does have the 20" rims.

The whole point of my reply wasn't even regarding rims or even the sport. It was to identify it is $5k cheaper.

Yup, I hear ya. However I'm thinking of the first car as a $38k car, $35k for the car then $3k for a warranty. I'd be afraid to own these cars with no warranty. Or am I wrong?

The third one is the best deal. If that "Bang" means Bang & Olufsen than there is $6K difference for the beginning. You like 20's, there is another thousand difference. If you check recent treads you can find all what Sport model brings.

I agree as well. The third one is my choice I didn't realize it had B&O. I really REALLY stress to go and look at the car first. I'm sure you were going to, but just in-case you wouldn't; very bad idea not too.

Ok, so there is a 4th option now I came across

2008 A8 Dark Grey / Amaretto, 28k miles, CPO, sport / prem / ext leather / vent seats / soft doors. $38,500. The car looks GREAT in high res pics. Its only a 200 mile drive, so easily can pick it up in a day trip.

I REALLY like the sport package to get the 20's and the sport steering wheel.

While the color combo is a little odd, it does work for me. While I would prefer the #3 above - black / black / sport - it is 2000 miles away, and $2k more than option #4.

I think I can live with the color combo, and the low miles and right options are appealing. I think I will try to get them down to $38k. My logic is "hey, I"m about to buy a 2008 for $35k + $3k for a warranty. Sell me yours for $38k and I'll take it".

I really dont want to own this car with no warranty.

Thank you everybody in advance for your opinions!

yes, it does have B+O + leather pack, plus soft close doors. It has every option except tech pack (dont car) and alcantata (I WISH, but not a deal breaker).
