Default I rather research and get the car with options that I wanted

than to retrofit something like this. I'm sure some people just love to retrofit and work on cars...

Cheers,

Louis

Yes, I heard of some retrofitting rear view cameras.

I still like working on cars including some pretty big jobs. Including the dreaded A8 timing belt. That said, the dashboard R&R for a change in material & appearance is not something I plan to ever do. "Replace Vehicle" would be my way to address that situation.

you are TOUGH ! As you can see by my signature, I am no stranger to going to great lengths when it comes to retrofitting. And I REALLY wanted a leather dash, and have seen them for sale on German eBay, but even I could not bring myself to undertake what looked like a staggering amount of work.

In the old V8 model the dash cover was held on with about 5 screws hidden in the dash vents, which seems like a better way to engineer a dash.

The good news is that the pain of the R&R will recede in the distance but the enjoyment of your dash will be ongoing.
