Last night I picked up my car from the parking garage and I had absolutely no audio capabilit. No iPod, no AM, no FM, no NAV voice, nothing. I even went so far as to reset MMI for all audio setting to factory defaults, etc. nothing. Stopped, turned off engine, turned back on, nothing.

Woke up this morning, went in, started the engine, and poof, everything works fine.

Did the Nav Screen pop Up at all?

Nav screen and all functions of the MMI controls worked fine, just no sound of any kind.

I had sporadic events of this type over the course of a year. MMI would suddenly shut down when driving and then pop up with the "four ring basic screen". Nothing I did would bring it back - then suddenly the next day or later the same day all would be fine. It finally died completely and the dealer replaced the control module. Mine was replaced under warranty. I was told the part was $1200 wholesale - I just remembered I was never given any paperwork - they said they would send it but never did. I never had any spills or other events on the console. 2005 A8L 36k. Good luck!
