Default EBC Brake pad catalog

Here is a link to the EBC brake catalog. You can find the correct numbers for your car there.

2013-US-auto-catalogue

Audi A8 pads are on the pages 26-28

"cousin Chris" - I find the first 4-500 miles there is quite a bit of dust, as the Red Stuff pads have an abrasive coating to clear 'old' pad stuff off the rotors. After that, it is quite minimal. Have them on all three 'post 1990 cars'.

I found the lowest cost source, including shipping was: K-Spec Racing - racing performance & tuning - air intakes, headers, exhaust, brakes, springs, coilovers, suspension - Homepage

I don't think Amazon had them when I went searching. They may be quicker and/or cheaper.

PS: I've had both Akebono pads and Red Stuff pads on my 928 GTS. Neither produce much dusting on the wheels, but I like the 'bite' of the Red Stuff better than the Akebono's.

Default Maybe 30%+? Color seems important to overall appearance too

It's material, but also not some magic cure that gets rid of 90% of the dust or some such. Pads wear at about the same overall rate as OE on my W12, so the dust from the car has to go somewhere. I can't explain how wear rate is about the same but dust level seems different, other than maybe EBC dust adheres less (post break in) for some reason. The EBC dust is somewhat more of a tan brownish from, rather than the typical quasi-black from most pads, and that color shift also seems to help--when the wheel is dusty on EBC vs. a typical stock pad, it shows less.

I have used Reds across a variety of Audi's and non-Audis for some years now and they remain my typical go-to pad. At times I have had EBC front while waiting for OE rears to wear more, and fronts don't look much worse than backs, which of course is not like the typical OE dust storm that makes front much worse on the typical vehicle.

Rumor has it that Akebono will be available soon. Awdinut, maybe able to shed more light on the matter, but he has posted on another board that Akebono will be making their front pads available for the D3 around mid-Sept. I've run Akebonos on many different cars and can attest that the dust is extremely low. The initial bite of the peddle is softer than other pads, but if you give it a push, the stopping power is there. I am running Akebonos on the rear of my D3 with virtually no dust. The rears typically don't generate much dust anyway. However, I did have a car that had Akebonos up front and OEM on the rear and the rears made more dust and wheels discolored while the fronts remained looking good.

While I haven't tried EBC Res, the hopefully upcoming Akebonos may become a serious option.
