Default Driver's side tail/back-up light lens replacement.

Does anyone know how difficult it is to replace the driver's side tail light lens(trunk portion)?
I found a crack in mine but see no visible attachment clips/screws in either the lens or the trunk lid liner. Thanks for any help.

Remove the liner. It's behind there.

Check for proper sealing of grommet between luggage compartment lid and wire.
Tightening torque

Back-up light is an incandescent bulb in 2004 and the brake & tail lights are LED boards which are supposed to be replaced as a unit. However, some of us have sample LED's made by Stanley and can service surface mount PC boards. You can also buy the LED's cheap from Digi-Key.

What trim are you talking about? the hole carpeting pad that covers the entire inside of the trunk and that includes the tool kit? If so, how do I remove it?

thanks,

navin

Remove tool kit assembly (four or five screws under plastic discs that pop out with a screwdriver) Remove emergency handle; the screw is behind the glow in the dark cover that pops off with a screwdriver or good thumbnail. Pull handle comes off with a screw or two IIRC. Then you pry the "carpet pad" cover off with your hands with gloves or a large trim removal tool or screwdriver or putty knife. Be careful so you don't scratch any paint. It's one solid plastic piece covered with felt.

Navin: where did you find a replacement and what did it run you? Mine has slight crack in it too, but I was holding off replacing it

According to Sunset Porsche Audi, the list price is $324, but they offer it for $225. I haven't bought one yet, though.
