Bridgestone Potenza RE970AS Pole Position
Does anyone have anything good/bad/indifferent to say about the Bridgestone Potenza RE970AS Pole Position tires? I am about to purchase a set.
Thanks

I had the predecessor 960 model. Absolutely fabulous tire in the rain...better than any I had up to that time. Next tire set was Conti DWS. The DWS tire is as good in the rain as the 960s were, IMO. And in addition the DWS tires are the best all-season tire I have ever driven in the snow. The 960s were excellent in the snow as well.
The 970s will be stiffer (read harsh) as far as bumps are concerned. And the 970s will cost a couple hundred more for a set.
I am on my second set of DWS Contis, but if I did not have to pay the cost differential I would not be at all unhappy to have a set of the 970s. The tire rack ratings for the two would seem to be justified.

I picked up the Bridgestone Potenza RE970AS Pole Position all season tire. It handles GREAT. It is a little stiff, but 100% better than the Pirelli P6 four seasons that I had on the car.
Thanks for the above information, it helped my decision to go for them. They are warrantied for 40K, but if I get 30K I will be happy.

I run the 960s and would agree, they are a bit stiff in dynamic mode, but they handle great in dry and wet conditions. We did not have much snow this year for me to really comment on how they do in that. I've been running them for about 14 months and about 19,000 miles. I would say I have at least another 19,000 to go before it is time for new ones. I have a 970 as a spare, because I bought the 960s at the end of the run.
