Default ami retro fit...how to split fiber optic cable ?

I need to install an AMI in an A6 and I have the fiber optic cable that requires taking a plug apart to change fiber cables. I did my install so long ago I do not remember what to do with the plug, and I can not find anything with search to show me. Anyone know how ?

You can't "split" the fiber cable. There is a Y adapter that comes with the kit, you install this between the changer and AMI module.

Default Y adapter is the electrical side..

for the power takeoff from the CD changer. On the optical, you extend the loop by taking one side of the optical ring away from the CD changer, essentially moving it to the "same" side of the AMI unit, and then adding the optical between the two. The wiring kit did include a fitting for the optical that did seem kind of like a "splitter," but light wise I believe it's as I describe and that piece was actually probably a coupling to enable the extension and the in-out serial connection nature of the optical loop.

there is a connector for connecting one line from the original CD cable and one line from the new AMI cable in a straight line loop. The other AMI fiber line has to go into the CD optic plug.

Thanks. But as I recall , the plug was difficult to take apart and get together, but I need a text telling me the steps...those two photos dont bring to mind what it is that is required. Sorry.
