Default Air box vaccum line

Good afternoon..
My quest to solve the p0492 and p0491 CEL moves on. The vaccum line from the rear of the air box when I blow a little air into the line I hear it escaping, should that not happen? Thanks for any suggestions.

Blowing little air into this line

Air sounds like its coming from the front area.

See my recent thread on this very issue, a couple of weeks ago.

+1 on the impact of small small vacuum leaks. I had a variety of vacuum issues over a period of years and finally decided to replace all braided and old, rubber hoses with silicone hoses, whether they looked good or not. It took a couple of days to get them all done. I knew I had leaks, some small and other more obvious, but I wasn't sure exactly where, but after replacing all hoses with silicone all leaks were gone and the car had a rock solid idle and smooth acceleration.

Just noticing the link arms on your manifold diaphragms are different lengths - one long, one short. What year is your A8? Mine is an 05 and both of those arms are short ones.

Dose anyone know what this is that im pointing to? I have traced the air leak to this item. The air hose runs to the bottom of this piece.

Air hose runs to the bottome of this part is where i hear air escaping.

great info on your post Galco thank you!

Looks like the manifold solenoid vacuum valve, 077-906-283B. That round area allows atmospheric pressure into the solenoid. Nothing is missing.

Finally got the CEL to go off. Today started over retracing my steps and found a small crack. in the plastic hose that runs from the SAI to the air box. Taped it up good and solid, cleared DTC, and like magic it was gone.
Thank you to everyone for all there input very much appreciated.
