Aftermarket Warranty
Hello,
I just quoted by CarChex and wanted some input if I should buy now or keep looking. Here are the details.
They call it Premier/Gold coverage.
Warranty Provider: Royal Administration Services
$100 Deductible per visit, not repair.
36 months / 36,000 miles
total: $3,594.00
cost right now: 10% down payment, no interest and no credit check.
I am currently at 65k miles.
In my head I am still weighting the pros and cons. I dont know if its worth it. But at the same time, our audis cost a ton when something goes wrong and a lot can go wrong in 3 years.
IF I could get the same coverage from a decent company for 600-900 less I would lock in right now. Or if it was the best coverage possible for the current price.

2nd option:
Warranty Direct
PowerShield Enhanced (midlevel - doesnt cover mmi, exhaust, awd,...stuff like that)
5 yr / 100k miles
$0 Deductible
total: $ 2783.00
and I can get $200 off of that if I pay in full upfront.
What i like about WD is they claim no 3rd companies are involved. they handle the contact and do not sell it to anyone else as others do. I was on the phone with a rep for 20 minutes and she provided me with GREAT service.

Search the forums on this topic. There are too many threads relating to this. It boils down to 1. waste of money. 2. Good luck getting stuff covered when something does go wrong.
Save the cash and invest in a VCDS cable and a bentley book. Screw the warranty IMO.

+1 what Brozee said!
i am at the point where i don't even want to take to a "local friendly" shop anymore, because they are becoming just like the Stealership..
greed really changes people!
Max, get a Vag-com and a book. best investment you'll make!

My opinion differs from the above posters, but I believe you have to go with the Audi warranty administered by Fidelity. I paid about $3500 for 4/48,000 for my 04 with 44,000 miles on it about a year ago with a $250 deductible for the Audi Pure Platinum (exclusionary) Warranty. This is basically the top coverage they have.
So far it has covered trunk motor, both front struts, upper control arm and sway bar bushings. The warranty has more than paid for itself thus far, and I am only a year into owning a very lightly used A8. The last bill to Fidelity for the front end work was $4800+ and the bill to them for the trunk motor was about $500. That puts me $1300 in the positive for the repairs that have been needed thus far.
Just my opinion, but the repairs that we all know will be needed (struts, trunk motor, compressor) will be expensive and if you go through a reputable warranty company, and select the right coverage, it should pay for itself.

I agree on Audi Platinum. I've had one on both my D3s. The first one paid for itself. The second hasn't been needed yet, but I sleep better at night having it. I don't have the time to learn how or to work on these cars.
