Default A8s in snow

Do any of you a8 drivers find your car can drive up steep hills in snow? Do you use snow tires? Are all-seasons adequate?

How do you find down-hill braking?

Good snow tires and these things are pretty damn amazing.... I am on the Hakka R's this winter on 18" wheels.

I use Michelin X-Ice tires on 17" rims. No problems on a winding dirt foothill driveway in Idaho North of Boise.

I use my tires all season tires all year around. I have Falken PT 722 on 20's and they havent let me down yet. Come to think of it, the Pirelli's on 19's wasnt bad either.

Blizzak ws70s on 17" here. Amazing in the snow. Lake effect central NY blizzard here today, and felt very secure.

I now have only owned my A8 for 2 months. Minnesota has been really short on snow so far but on the one day i did drive on fresh snow, I really did feel like i had control of the car and could handle very well, much better than other SUV's driving slower than me. new all-season 19s.

Dangerous conclusion. You just drive closer to the cliff. Especially with all-seasons. Braking can surprise you.

Been driving both A8's for 4 years total. Always used all season tires year round through Michigan. Last year when we had two weeks of quite a bit of snow, the A8 with 18's and Michelin Pilot Sports and Continental DWS's both performed exceptionally well. With the lack of winters we have gotten lately I couldn't justify the price of new wheels and winter tires. Now if I lived in a state that got a lot of snow, or Canada, I might consider it. All depends what you do, I don't do hill driving or anything like you stated, just normal commuting and back roads here or there.

Michelin Alpin PA3's are performing very well here in Toronto... Kept stock 19s and no issues.

They work perfectly on this side too. Just no snow.

I decided to go for 255/45x19 for a bit more of sidewall and I am very happy about that.
