A8 D3 2007 Mysterious coolant leak
Hello,
I'm working on a A8 D3 2007 BVJ engine, and car has a coolant leak appearing under the coolant pump, but I cant see where its coming from any thoughts?

Exact same thing on my D2. Started as a few drips. I lived with it for two years. I wouldn't recomment putting any kind of stop leak in cause it can clog the thermostat. However, since I knew a timing belt service was coming up, I put a little bit of "liquid aluminum" in the coolant. I also 'caught" the drips in a pan, and poured it into bottle through a paint strainer (to keep debris out). I made a liter of Audi spec coolant last two years. The car is driving very little.
When it came time for the T-belt service, I had the oil cooler fixed.

I don't understand why you would be checking the oil cooler, when you plainly stated that it is leaking under the pump, and by pump I would think you to mean the water pump, that is what happens as the water pump fails, it starts as seeping coolant, then will totally fail by either massive leakage, or seizing and burning the belt.

Like I said, I have not seen anything on the cooler side, just beneath the coolant pump, which is not driven by a belt, but with a shaft from inside of motor. Do you recommend changing the whole pump assembly, or just the pump part, and reuse the housing?

OK, so I'm still searching for the mysterious leak on the D3 (Chain Driven) I connected a little radiator hand pump, to put some pressure in system and to hopefully see a leak somewhere. Well, no visible leak, but the pressure did drop. No I noticed that my oil is full of coolant, not emulsified. Engine runs picture perfect has 90K Can it be that the collant pump is dumping the coolant directly into the lower part of the engine? Has anybody heard of this?
Thanks for any thoughts
