The close assist feature stopped working. The motor is silent, so I don’t think it is a broken cable issue.

Service records from the previous owner showed the dealer had replaced the driver’s side a number of years ago .It mentioned doing a VAS5051 scan that showed the motor working properly but the micro switch was not reading.

Using my VagCom I could not find any fault codes nor any output tests for the motor or micro switch. I would like to know what I need to replace and order the parts before I tear apart the door.

Any experience in diagnosing the failure mode?

Do a search on this forum for 'soft close door'. I had one that wouldn't soft close, and when the mechanism area on the door itself (latch area) was sprayed with Kroil it now works 100%.

I did the search and tried the spray method also tried putting it into and out of Transport Mode which worked for another poster, no luck with either.
I am pretty sure it is the motor or micro switch or both and would like to figure out which before gutting the door.
