A smog story for Paul W from the left coast
Paul: two yrs ago I needed to smog the S-8. The morning of the smog test she pops a light. Run to grab laptop, plug her in, Vag her and it's the O2 sensor with too high resistance. Clear the code with a hour to spare before smog time. Started and restarted 6-7 times during a 30 mile drive. No dice, readyness not complete. Cancelled smog appt and started driving every day. It took two tanks of fuel for the readyness code to go away. After that she was good to go, providing you can find the right smog tech. The fly by wire go pedal is very very difficult to hold the 2500 RPM static test for 30 seconds, even with engine loaded with every electrical acc on. I seen another 01 here with same problem. Not sure if this just a left coast problem or not, cause I never seen it mentioned before on the board. Other chime in please.Cheers John

Funny you mention that
It was almost impossible to keep the engine running from 1800-2400 RPM at no load. At first I thought it was just me....then figured it was a throttle by wire thing.
