Default As an example, General Exclaim UHPs are very good and much less than 220...

Now don't go dissing them if you haven't run them ;-)

With their level of grip and performnce they certainly aren't a safety risk. Of course you can get more incremental performance for more money but the safety issue is not a concern unless you buy some unknown Chinese brand.

Yes, new. Tread is still very good, but noise/handling/hardness were driving me crazy.

Default Interesting. I put over 40K on my old set and they were nice up to the end...

I wonder if your tires were a year or so old before installation. I've been reading alot about tires sold as new with a fair amount of time sitting in warehouses, thus shortening the life span of the tread compound.

I'll be interested to hear your thoughts throughout the life span of the Conti's in your climate.
