Default Put in new ContiSportContact 3's last week. Huge improvement over the

Michelin Pilot Sport A/S. The Michelins did have about 12-15k miles on them but for the past 3-4k miles they've been very hard, noisy, and while still having very good tread left and being performing very well in wet, they've been frustratingly underperfoming in dry cornering grip and braking or cornering on dump surfaces.

The new Conti's are a Max Perf Summer tire rather than an all-weather, so you can't really compare the two as such, yet they're so quiet and gripy. They've transfored the vehicle. It's fun to enter a corner aggresively again and not have to worry about squealing noise and oversteering slides.

I've had awful past experience with Sears so this time I had them fit at my dealer (and while they were replacing they noticed a couple of torn boots that were replaced under warranty); $250/tire + $120 for labor. Very decent, even though I could have gotten them slightly cheaper at DiscountTire (and they did go a great job w/ two of my other vehicles).

When I first got my A8, 4 years ago, it had Conti's on it. (don't know how old they were)
I took them for granted. Got a good two years and 30K (tens of thousands of hwy miles) or so miles out of them.
Then I went cheap about 25k miles ago with some Kuhmo's for the the money. The Ks are ok for a poor college student. But I could tell a difference immediately. Not bad in the over all since. I'm sure my dad would have loved the soft feel.
But when I have the money again, I'm sold on any Conti Sports.

Default The new Michelin Pilot Sport A/S plus are light years ahead of both

the Conti's and the old pilots. I've run through a set of Conti's and the original Pilots and I have 1,200 miles on the plus' and they are amazing.
Paid $220 a tire installed with price matching and a sale at Discount Tire.

220 is a lot for a tire these days.

If Pilot A/S has a new version out, it may well be better. Not with what I have been using though.

It is? Not really for a decent tire of these sizes and quality.... you don't want cheap!

I never compromise on tires. Cheap insurance and a better handling and riding car.

Default Did you buy your Pilot's new?

I've had nothing but good luck and over 40K nice riding quiet miles on my old set.
Once tires are over two years old they get hard and ride rough and loud regardless of tread.
