The question is why they both failed at the same time?

Any recent work on the engine? Oil overfill? Bad gas?.....

)

Even the difficult Bank 1 sensor is an hour max, the Bank 2 takes 10 min.

With splicing add on a half hour, being generous.

The light has been on for about a year. But, I agree, why are both failed? (or just indicating failed)

This is a common conclusion shops jump too....it seems everything nowadays is O2 sensor related.....

Check your vacuum lines for leaks. Is the code saying "too lean"?

^ There is much wisdom in this post.

Bad vacuum lines will indeed trigger a code claiming the O2 sensors are bad sometimes.
