Too many variables. Rusted rings from sitting, or seized from running out of oil or ?

No water and oil mixing, so hopefully head gaskets fine.

Check the engine oil. If it is has metal shavings, then the engine is most likely garbage. Also, check if the crank is locked or something else.
If you have a borescope, check through each spark plug hole the pistons.

I thought these cars were supposed to run a good ways without coolant using fuel deactivation or something but I've never tried it (don't plan to). What happened?

No idea, like i said on org post (way back), drove it up the driveway after a motorway thrash to bottle store (a few ks) parked it, left for abt 2 weeks, came to move and zip, thought flat battery, did all that including new one, but still nothing. Finally got the Auto spark to check it out and he says STRONG click (solenoid), so I think that leaves me with 2 options now, seized or locked crank (from maybe hitting something) or starter motor. Now I doubt it is the starter as it was sweet before I parked. Overheating was only a thought.

Doubt it overheated, there is usually some drama associated with that. Get a socket on the crank snout and see if the engine is stuck.
