Just replaced my front level sensor that's used for the headlight auto-leveling system.

I had this warning in my dash for a while:

Pulling the codes from VAG gave the following:

16-00 - Signal Outside Specifications

So i bought the level sensor 66$CDN which i believe is used on many Audi model-year:

Wow, the original one is out there, in the open, exposed to all the crap from the road:

It's all dirty and clogged with dirt:

So i install the new one and wrap it with tape to protect the connections:

That's it. Upon start up the warning symbol is gone and the headlights adjust when i compress the suspension. It does not seem to need an adjustment, the beam is properly aimed like it was before.

Hope this helps anyone who gets this problem.

I'll jump aboard this thread as I just replaced both of my sensors this weekend.

I'm hoping for suggestions regarding what appears to be bad wiring.

VAG-COM measuring blocks show a constant 4.22v at rear sensor no matter what. I can move the arm up and down and never get a voltage change.

My previous rear sensor showed a constant of 4.28v.

VAG-COM hints for that value block states "0v = bad sensor; 5v = bad wiring".

Gently moving the three wires around didn't reveal a broken wire with intermittent connection.

Any suggestions on the next step in solving this?
