Default One more data point . . .

206 g/sec ... KaMaKaZieP's stock '97 A8
211 g/sec ... KaMaKaZieP's A8 w/ X-pipe
216 g/sec ... PaulW's '97 A8 w/ Supersprint exhaust
241 g/sec ... TimD's stock '03 S8
242 g/sec ... sillyfast's '03 S8 w/ X-pipe and no rear muffler
253 g/sec ... ryoung's stock '01 S8
293 g/sec ... Swen's '01 S8 w/ custom dual exhaust and X-pipe

I'll post readings of my A8 w/X-pipe soon - don't have the car today.

Default Re: Some of this just don't make sense...

Altitude, Humidity, air filter.... these things must be playing a part because how can a stock S8 have more airflow than one w/ an X-pipe and no muffler and Swen's 293 seems weird to me too because he's got more mufflers and resonators in his system than we do etc.

Default Swen's dual exhaust is very low pressure drop.

Adding that 2nd muffler essentially doubles the cross sectional area of the exhaust after the X-pipe.

Gotta agree, though, that the results do seem weird. It certainly would have been very helpful if we had also recorded the other variables you mention.

How are you guys getting these readings? What channel or is it through an adaptation?

Default Paul's and mine with this ...

The CarChip EX; I originally purchased it as a cheap data logger when on track.

Default VAG-COM

Go to engine, measuring blocks, block #2, iirc. Outputs readings to an excel file.
