Just bought an Audi A8
I hope the link below works for you to see the car. The language is in dutch though. But you will notice that it is a 4.2, 2001 model, 94.000 Kms.
While doing the road test, I noticed unusual noise in side the car. It is kind of rattling. I am currently driving a front wheel drive. I am not used to the quattro system.
Do quattro's tires make more noise inside the than other cars? As my car is a front wheel drive, I would expect it to make similar noise on the front tires.
Are other quattro's quite inside? Does the tyre type matter? Which best tyre may I use to have it silent inside? What else may cause such issues?

http://www.autoscout24.nl/dut/detail.asp?ts=8530963&id=qnhknfo1pti</a

Drive it for a while
Tell us what you think the noise is after a week or so, and watch this board, it's probably been discussed before.
Figure out if it's at low speeds going over bumps or something else.

Quattro has no affect on tire noise.
Tires should be rotated every 3-5k miles (as they should on any car), but you have very unusual tires or something unusually worn, the tires should be silent. Since quattro drives all four tires, you should actually get more uniform tire wear than with FWD.
I suggest rotating the tires to see if the noise changes or moves, confirming that it is a tire noise. If so, the problem could have many many causes ...
- defective tire
- tire out of balance causing irregular wear
- suspension out of align
- worn shocks
- worn suspension bushings
- etc etc etc (hence the suggestion to check audipages and/or searching this forum)
