SilverD2

I have understand, promise I will change next week my 17mm bolt, by security.
Thanks for your good advices.
Here the Facom socket I use is an impact socket Hex, very good tool, use smoothly with a pipe, not an impact gun.
But now I am stuck ; I have not the good socket for the bolts on gearbox side.
It is not torx but 12 side bolt.
I have not the exact name, but I have only 3 sockets of this kind, and not the good size. I have 6, 8 and 12, it seems be 9.
No problem , I am going to buy one tomorrow morning.

Have a nice day.

Hello

Yes, it is M10 bolt.
And now, I have a complete collection of sockets !
But unfortunately, I spend 4 or 5 hours to try to get out the only bolt remaining the 2 joints like explain in plan here in page1.
On my car, only one long bolt but the rust weld it on arm.
Impossible to extract.... lot of wd40, 5 hours spend, lot of patience.
Nothing to do, too much rust.
But, here in France we can say ; 'I have not say my last word'
My last chance ; patience enough because my good doctor Mr Hammer, can not operate, no place ! And it is not possible to heat ; the rubber's articulations will not appreciate !

Default Bad bolt

This morning, no good news, my bolt is always shelt by rust.
Now I have weld the nut on bolt extremity and with one wrench on the 2 sides I put a big pression to try to unlock all.
I wait few hours and lot of wd40.

Hope I don't have to heat....

Have you an idea ??

Thanks.

Don't take that top bolt out. Remove the nut on the lower rear curved control arm. Hit the part of the upright where the tapered balljoin is with a big hammer, then hit slightly the control arm down. It will POP out. Remove the sway bar connecting link, turn the steering wheel to the left and push the whole upright forward. The axle will come out.

Hello

It seems it is too late....
I have unscrew the nut and weld it on the bolt....
Always blocked on the car tonight....
I have read the Bentley indications send by Silverd2 and it was so easy ;
2 balljoins to remove...
It is a good method, but here I have a very very bad bolt...
Now it is not more possible to not extract this bolt.
Tuesday, a friend of me (Peter or Pierre in french) comes to help me with a blowlamp.
Promise I will think to you when in few weeks I will be on the road for holidays.
But for the moment, my car is in my garage for few days again.

I will give you the continuation.

I'll wait for a big 32 or 36mm female hex bolt like most of cars !

Thanks for your help.

Yves from North of France.
Now, all is all right for me...
Long work time on s##à@@t bolt.
finally the bolt broke... 2 hours to drill it and to extract it.
When I go to Audi dealer near home, they laugh and said to me "this bolt must be always broken to extract it..."
So now, my shaft is out of car and I can work to change join on gearbox.

Thanks a lot to everybody who help me.
I hope my little experience can be useful to you.

Regards.
