How much is too much engine oil?
I took my S8 to the dealer for an oil change and left 8 quarts of Mobil one, told the guy at the counter it takes 7 and sometimes a bit more depending on how long they let it drain. Anyway, I checked the oil level about an hour after I got home and it is about 3/16 inch over the max (up the orange plastic.)
Is this anything to worry about or is it not enough over to cause any problems?

Extra engine oil touches the crankshaft, which is spinning 100 times a second.
As you can imagine, this makes bad things happen, such as:
>Parasitic drag
>OIL FOAMING (air bubbles in your oil = no lubrication)
So in short, it's not going to make your car explode but don't do it again.

2nd.....i was an idiot before and overfilled...foamed the oil....the oil warning came on because the
sump couldn't pick up the oil....then kept over filling, thinking it was low....then lots of smoke. Thank God nothing bad happened. I changed the oil and like 11 qts came out.

11 quarts - hahah...dumbass (just kidding) but damn, 11qts! someone acutally wrote...
"8QTS" on the top of my engine in sharpie! obviously someone needed a reminder! haha.
