Is this heaven?......... No, it's Ingolstadt.
Last week I was in Germany and took an extra day to travel over to Ingolstadt and visit the Audi museum. Although I have been to Germany many times, usually I don't block off any extra time to sight-see. In the future I will do more.
The Audi museum is not huge like the new(-ish) Mercedes museum in Stuttgart, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I would have liked to see more content on the 80's Quattros and rally cars as well as the current R10 race car, but I think they see these as just small facets of their long history. Below are some pics of my favorite exhibits.
Oh, and below that, for the P-car-afflicted among us are some pictures from the brandy-new Porsche museum in Zuffenhausen. Didn't really plan to visit this (don't need a P-car habit right now!), but our hosts insisted and I had extra time on the first day of the trip. It was concise - would fit in one floor of the ~7-story Mercedes museum - but excellent. One thing I will say is that there is one exhibit of the 12 cylinder 917 race cars with a multi-media presentation that will absolutely make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up and give you chills and make you say OMFG if you have any pulse at all.
Enjoy...

One of her other cars is in a collection here in CO, along w/ Hurley Haywood's Audi 200 TransAm car.
Great pics- thanks so much for sharing w/ us.
Ben- haven't you also seen this collection on Indiana in Arvada?

Sadly, they are no longer in Colorado....
Most of them went to the Palace Hotel in Vegas to be sold off. The Sport Q and the S1 were sold for sure. I am 99% sure that the Sport went to California, but the where-abouts of the S1 are unknown to me.
The Trans-Am car is still there and for sale though. I am told they want $300k+
Thankfully, I did get a chance to see the collection before it was broken up and sold. It was a rare treat as I am told not many people got the opportunity.

Trans-Am 200

Negative on the 4 door. Also neg. on the 944 wagon. Not a 944 in the joint
if you can believe it, or if there was I didn't see it. Are you anywhere near the Stuttgart area? The Porsche museum had only been open for 3 days when we were there. All of the Germans we deal with were asking us about it b/c it is a huge deal in Stuttgart. It can easily be reached by train (has it's own stop). I LOVE the high-speed trains and will probably mostly use that mode in the future in Europe.

The guy had a real "thing" for Group B cars and the Palace has certainly sold some of them because there were more than this in the collection.
He also had a BUNCH of Group C cars and it looks like they still have a few of those too...

It was an amazing collection of automotive history and it really hit home with me because they were cars that I watched race when I was REALLY getting into cars and racing. So, the personal significance for me almost brought a tear to me eye.....*sniff*
