Engine Control Module for 2001 Audi A8L
The Ross tech VCDS listed 2 fault codes for my car, and listed the part number to fix it, part number 4D0907560AF, according to Audi, that part number is now part number 4D0997560DX, engine control module. I got 2 prices both are arounnd $735.00 according to genuine vwaudiparts.com Do amy of you know another parts source for me to check.
BTW How accurate is the Ross tech VCDS, should I believe it's diagnosis of the part number??

Re: Can you post the codes? What's wrong with the car?
The Ross Tech fault codes are 16826 - EVAP Emission Control Sys: Small Leak P0442 -35-10 Intermittment, and 16839 - EVAP System: Large Leak Detected P0455 -35-0
The above is the printout concerning the 2 Faults found.
CEL stays on evem when I reset it and eliminate the codes, the CEL comes back on.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hmm... New ECM? With those codes, that seems strange...
Is your gas cap loose?
Question for the veterans: Since when does VAG-COM make part replacement recommendations based on a few codes? And why would the ECU be triggering the EVAP codes?

Your ECM is fine. You have to find the leak in the evaporative system.
Vag tool is giving you an area to search for the problem, it does not give you part numbers that need to be replaced. The vag tool told you that you have an evaporative leak. And its a large one too. Do you have the Bentley manual?
Personally I would start from a new gas cap, the cheapest and easiest thing to replace first.
But just to make things clear, are you saying that with the ignition ON you reset the CEL and if you scan it again before you start the car you get the same codes?

how did those codes point you to a new ECM? The codes you posted are pretty minor...
don't run out and buy a new ECM. Unless it got wet, it's highly unlikely to be bad.
The minor evap leak could be a gas cap, the major could be something else emissions related.
