Creaking Doors and Malfunctioning Service Engine Sensor
The doors of my 2001 A8L creak when I drive over rough pavement, is there some cream or something I can put on the rubber seals to stop them from creaking?? Also the Service Engine tells me to service engine (after the dealer has reset it) in 800 miles then 2 days later 300 miles then 2 days later 100 miles, I haven't even driven it 1000 miles since the dealer reset it. What do u think is the problem, looked in the manual says have dealer reset it, which is a pain since closest dealer is 160 miles away. Please help with any suggestions for my 2 problems.

Address 17 adaption 05-06-07 are all service indicators
Often only one will be set by techs and when your man serviced he should have at least checked if not reset them all ie:
one for milage service
one for time service
and one for oil change
Do you have Vag? or go back to tech

He means that the Dealer only reset one of the three service reminders........

Audi has included a Service Interval Reminder that includes oil mileage interval, the service mileage interval, and the service time interval. To reset the Service Reminders using VAG-COM:
Select Control Module > [Select]
[17 - Instruments]
[Adaptation - 10]
For the 1995-1997 (and maybe part of 98):
Channel 05 should be the distance until the next Oil Service.
It is in thousands of kilometers. Let's say you want the Oil
Service light to come on in 5000 miles. That would be 8000 km.
Put the value 8 into channel 05. The "standard value" used by the US
dealers would be 12 (7500 miles).
Channel 06 should be the distance until the next In-1 Service.
Same units as above. Standard value would be 24 (15,000 miles).
Channel 07 should be the time until the next In-1. In-1 lights
up based on time or distance, whichever comes first. This is in
10's of days. Standard value would be 36 for 360 days.
Channel 08 would be time until the next In-2. In-2 is based
strictly on time. Standard value is 72 for 720 days (about
two years).
There are similar procedures to reset the Service Reminders for the 01 A8.
1998 and Newer
Channel 02 - set to 0 to reset

Do the indicators ever show what service is needed. I reset one reminder and my "service!" light....
still appears after starting. I was going over my Maintenance schedule and noticed only Plugs and brake fluid need replacing.
So is there an indication? I check the menu screen and it shows 0 miles till service.
TIA

Re: Creaking Doors and Malfunctioning Service Engine Sensor
The creaking in my 2000 L is SO anoying! If the window is opened even a half inch the creaking in that door stops. I have'nt figured out the relationship between the two phenomena unfortunately so I don't have a solution.
Also, if you push out slightly on the window when it is all the way up the creaking will cease. One thing I do know from experience is that puting silicone or other substances on the seals will do nothing to remove the creaking. If you ever solve the p[roblem be sure to let us know how you did it.
