Im pretty sure that it started in 01' as mine doesn't either (00) but Ive seen them in 01-03 A8

Update

Well, the seller is willing to come down from $27,600 to $25,500, so we're getting closer. I still think it's a little on the high side, but he claims the timing belt service has been completed, which would be a big plus if that was the case.

Hmmm, it's only 4 hours to NY from here...
