Wow! Anything in particular for which you would contribute your longevity?
Is that with the original tranny? At what intervals did you change the transmission fluid?
I would love to still be driving my car at 200K, congratulations!

Just about to hit 210k, here are the stats for last year...
drove 25k miles averaging 24.4 mpg, spent $2,400 on maintenance, the big item was the fuelpump which ran $1,100 and tranny fluid and filter for $480, the rest was just regular maintenance.Total cost for fuel and maint. was $0.21 per mile, not too bad at all.

113k here... rebuilt tranny @108, TB at 65k/2004
Next time I need a TB, I will be at 150k/spring of 2009. By then, a Platinum 2003 S8 will be in the depreciation sweet spot.
I did my cv boots at 80k, wiper arm linkage, and ignition modules. I expect my recall control arms will prolly die in the next 50k as well.
So in 2009, my car will be at bottom of curve, would make a great around town beater.

Re: Hitting 195,000 this week with the usual issues.
I will hit 195,000 this week and have had very good luck with my 98 A8. Had to do a steering rack this summer and a fuel pump ($800) last month but that is to be expected in my opinion. I still have the original transmission and it has the thumping and hunting but it hasn't given out yet. I am sure it will eventually but the rest of the car is in fantastic condition so I will have it fixed and see how long the car lasts.
