A8 4.2 turbo kit? Supercharger?

Wow I just came across one of my old posts...FYI I did eventually do the supercharger kit and finished up putting much of what I did at this link:

I blew up my first engine after 50,000km...and did a full rebuild...now on a trek to replace the supercharger with twin turbos...here we go again...regs, Oscar from Australia

I've got an '02 L and I have the desire to make it go fast (just no money right now ) I remember reading about you blowing up the previous engine and was hoping you'd give me some pointers so I don't do the same lol Did you actually lower the compression and it still went boom??
Cheers

Sounds fun!
My local shop sells the PES S/C kit. They warranty all their work for 36 months/36,000 miles, including performance mods (actually any service/repair performed there for that matter). I don't know that I feel like dropping $8500 + install, but would sure love to feel that power in the D2.

Yeah, too many ricers on the road that need to learn a thing or two about how great our A8's are
$8500..... out of my budget for sure although I trust it would be worth it. I've got to do my own work though to justify owning German lux. Maybe one of the 'simplest' options for me would be to find a wrecked RS6 and swap the engine/trans.

Hey dogolf
I'm curious about how your modding affected your transmission. Just reading through some of your posts on AudiAddict and you mentioned the tuned motor putting out around 400 hp. ZF is of the opinion that the gearbox is capable of ~300. Did you experience any transmission troubles after the hp increase?
Cheers

* The only difference with D2 S8 transaxles are the final drive ratios...all other parts identical and individual gear ratios the same.

Yet Audi uses exactly the same transmission* in 360 hp D2 S8's, with statistically no failures any earlier than 310 hp D2 A8's of the same years.
