2002 Audi A8
I’ve been looking for help for so long and now I’m here. My rear passenger door latch is broken and it won’t close. I can’t find a replacement latch any where. Any idea how to find the part number? I was told there may be a VW that has the same part that Is interchangeable.

Pjax, can you share some more information on which part of the door handle is broken? Did you pull the door panel and see if there's anything simple to fix? Not sure if what's broken is obvious or if maybe something is stuck. I have had door latches stick and freed them up with WD-40 or a penetrating oil by spraying the latching mechanism in the door and open/closing the door several times.

It’s The latch that keeps the door closed. It does not ketch when you close the door so I have to tie the door to keep it closed to drive.
I found a 2000 for parts but it’s not an A8L it’s just a A8. Do you think that part would work for my A8L? I don’t know the part number for either car. How can I find out the part number?

Got it. I don't know about these A8s, but I would really try spraying some lubricant into the door latch and open close the door many times. I have successfully freed up several doors with that method. I would guess the door latch would be the same A8 to A8L, but I don't know for sure. You can try the Audi parts website, they have all the diagrams on there too and you should be able to find the part number.

When I have had this happen on a front door the trick I leaned was to hold the door shut and cycle the locks.
If you lubricate things I suggest starting very light like WD-40 and maybe consider a dry lube if warranted.
