Default $1.5K for a new air blower?

I noticed that my fan wasn't blowing when I turned corners, and at idle it would not blow 100%. I learned to live with it. But now it seems the motor is gone so says a mechanic I took it to recently. He quoted me $2 to fix it. I laughed and drove away. I mean, I could see spending $2K on a new tranny, but a stupid fan motor?

When I'm driving at a normal/fast rate of speed, I can turn the ac on and and put it on vent and a little bit of air passes through the system and will ultimately cool the car down. But sitting in traffic and driving around the city is almost unbarable.

Any suggestions?

With a replacement blower unit in hand and an assortment of 1/4 in drive extensions, wobble joints, sockets and driver bits, the entire task of replacing the blower fan should not take two hours. If you are tall, (> 180cm) the task will be a snap!

The blower unit is just over $165 and several possible vendors have presented themselves on this list. Search for "blower".

A $300 task tops, at any honest repair facility. Bring the description from the tech pages back to the quoting repairman, and ask for a second quote. ;-)

Default On the S500 its likely a lot more work than on the A8

most cars you have to take apart most of the dash, and on high end cars, that can be a lot of labor.
