Worth the wait!
4 months and 1 day was a very long time but as I drove her home last night from the dealership it was definitely worth the wait.
Got to drive it off the showroom floor
Amazing colors in the setting sunlight
TDI's torque is heavenly
Kid's can't take their eyes off it (too bad car seats don't fit ;-) )
Now the real fun starts. Already have an number of questions about the car and would appreciate any feedback from the group.
1. AMI Red vs. Blue iPhone grommet cable - car came with blue, worth getting red? people actually play videos or care about album cover art?
2. Can Text messages be read through the MMI? Wife's new GMC can prompt and read her messages when they arrive.
3. Is it possible to access Siri via the phone control system? (didnt' see anything in any docs they gave me about this)
4. Finance woman at the dealership tried to upsell a better alarm system saying that the factory one doesn't sense if the windows are smashed in. Is this true? What types of alarms have others upgraded to?
5. Thoughts on putting on a clear front bra / covering? Paint looks amazing and I will be doing a lot of long freeway drives. Does covering alter the appearance?
6. Anyone around the Sacramento area with a VAGCOM cable? Curious about doing a few additional tweaks.
That's all I came up with in the first 12 hours. Time to go for another drive!!

Here's a few thoughts:
1. Videos are great for the kids and album art helps to ID which album is playing. Also, they looks very cool.

2. and 3. Most audio that can be played on the phone including Siri can be heard through the car's audio system when connected. Unfortunately, the MMI cannot execute anything from the phone other than music, video and tel calls - you need to activate from the phone itself to hear Siri read texts, etc. through the car's speakers.
4. Any add-ons the dealer tries to sell are usually unnecessary and if it all worthy of consideration, are almost always overpriced compared to what can be done by a specialist shop. I wouldn't waste money on an aftermarket alarm but would recommend instead consideration of a full front Xpel Ultimate film and whole car Opti-Coat. Especially if you hate rock chips and environmental paint damage.
5. There are no less than 106 forum threads (approx.) on car paint protection film. In most people's opinion, Xpel Ultimate is the best on the market due to it's built-in clearcoat and self healing properties. Google and do a global AudiWorld forum search for Xpel and Opt-Coat for lots of discussions.
6. Consider investing $349 in the Ross-Tech VCDS cable yourself. Besides the mods, advantages are running scans when something is not working properly or before bringing the car into service for scheduled maintenance. Also, sometimes mods can be set back to default when a dealer does a system update. Having the cable allows you to conveniently reset your changes in just a few minutes. Not at all difficult.

Congratulations, the A7/S7/RS7 is the best car you can get nowadays. Is that the 245ps or the Biturbo? I do not know if the bi turbo is available in the US. I don't think so
