Default Those 20" wheels sure are nice to look at but ...

... be very careful of getting scuffs/scratches on them!

My A7 isn't 2 weeks old and already i have a nice little scuff on the back passenger wheel. I guess I am not used of the longer wheel base on the A7 but I was turning a corner and before I knew it I heard a little scraping noise. I prayed it was somehow just the rubber of the wheel catching but alas it was the alloy.

Anyways - learn from my carelessness - give yourself a wide berth when taking corners, parking or anywhere near kerbs.

In general, can a good detailer repair them? Or has anyone ever tried to repair it themselves? I saw this link today: http://www.autopia-carcare.com/realwhda.html

What does this have to do with 20" wheels? Wouldn't any sized wheels scuff taking a corner too close?

I'd love to have those wheels, EXCEPT 19" & all season tires. Sorry to hear this but I'd be interested in responses as well. My wife is notorious for cutting curbs too close.

I see you point, but I think the sidewall size between the 19 and 20 inch wheels is so close that you would have gotten curb rash from both.

I feel your pain. I have had the car for probably a month and have hit the curb twice on my LR wheel. I am having the that wheel fix tomorrow. Hopefully they don't cost a fortune.

That methode works well. I find it easier to remove the wheel, put it on a workbench or sawhorses horizontally and work on it that way. I usually deflate the tire, that way it is easier to mask the rubber

I took it to one shop they quoted me 500.00 because the special finish on the wheel, to fix it right which mean they have to strip down the paint, sand, paint and clear coat again ..etc..I called another shop they quoted me 130.00. when they came to my house the guy pretty much told me the same. He said that it won't be exactly the same finish due to the special coatings on the wheels. I told them to go ahead and do it cause I didn't want them to drive out here for nothing. Worse case scenerio i just get another set of rims. But I was so totally impressed with how the wheel came out. It looks amazing. To my untrained eyes the wheel I couldn't even tell the area that he had worked on. I'm stoked right now.
