Default Anyone moved from an S5 to an A7 ..

Just wondering if anyone traded their S5 to an A7, and
how you compare the two cars after spending a couple of
months or years in both cars. Do you miss the S5 or
were you glad you moved to the A7. Was thinking of
the A7 as a next car if I upgraded, but it seems big
and don't know how it corners and handles compared to the S5.
I would imagine the S5 feeling more nimble, but the A7 more
comfy for longer highway drives.

I went from a 2008 RS4 to the A7. Pretty much as you summed up - the A7 is way more comfortable and practical compared to the RS4 and way more high tech. The RS4 was more engaging and of course had one of the best stock exhaust notes going. The A7 will handle pretty darn well, especially with the summer performance tires on it. With the DSG tranny it would have been perfect.

Thanks. Did you miss the acceleration of the V8 RS4 or does the low RPM torque of the 3.0 engine give the A7 enough ooompphhh that you don't miss the RS4 ?

Well - Having a modded Z06 in the garage will distort your feelings of acceleration but the RS4, with it's 6 speed manual, likely would jump out ahead of the A7 but the A7 does just fine if you really stomp on it. Plus not having to row gears in traffic is a nice break. See me in another year or so and see if I'm still happy with 310HP. You could always hold out for the S7.........

Thanks for all the info. One guy who tested the S7 on an Audi track event said there was not much difference with his A7 in terms of power, but that he liked the diamond sports seats. Well, if the S6 and S7 comes to my dealer, I better test it along with the A7.

Having driven a S7 yesterday all I can say is that the track test was super slow and misleading. The S7 has loads of power and torque that you just don't get on the A7. Not that the A7 is a slow car, but you can feel the difference for sure.

Almost went from an S5 to an A7, but ended up with a BMW 550xi instead. After extensive overnight test drives, back to back in each car, I felt the drive train of the bimmer far superior than the A7, especially with the M sport package. After a year of ownership, I couldn't be happier although I am curious how the S7 stacks up against the BMW. Time will tell. Good luck.

I have both, a 2013 S5 convertible and a 10 months old A7 and I can tell you in terms of power the S5 feels a tad better but not to much... The A7 is more comfy and handles well the corners but the S5 is again a little better.
I think if you want to upgrade you will not regret it. The interior of the A7 is just something that make me forget all the power of the S5 when cruising on the freeway....
